Youth Work Online

Exploring youth engagement in a digital age

Don't know if anyone has spotted this recently but there is a new group on Bebo for lads and ladies thinking about relationships. It leads on to a website called "R U Thinking?" which is linked to the DCSF and other bodies. Some useful stuff here which could be used with young people and is worth flagging up.

What really struck me is the statement in their website legal policy of "Access and use by you of this web site constitutes acceptance by you of these Terms and Conditions that take effect from the date of first use."

It comes down to, you have no choice - whether you read these or not - you are bound by our T&Cs.

Reading further on, the T&Cs seem quite reasonable but how do we feel about saying someone is bound by such conditions with no obvious effort to make them aware first. I know that most people just scroll through EULAs and then click accept - but we're talking about young people here. Should such a site be more upfront about its policies and how?
